Wear short sleeve shirt and shorts

HOLTER MONITOR:

  • Bathe prior to the application of the monitor as you are not able to do so while wearing the monitor. Do not use lotions or powders on the chest area. Gentleman may need several small areas of their chest shaved to allow proper adherence of the monitor leads.
  • THE MONITOR MUST BE RETURNED THE FOLLOWING DAY:
    • A.M. appointments, monitor must be returned by 8:30 A.M. the following morning.
    • P.M. appointments, monitor must be returned by 12:00 Noon the following day.
    • Friday appointments, all monitors must be returned by Monday 8:30 A.M.

ECHOCARDIOGRAM:

There is no preparation for this test.


CAROTID SONOGRAM:

There is no preparation for this test.

NUCLEAR STRESS TEST: EXERCISE AND PHARMACOLOGIC

*Please alert us 24 hours prior to test of latex allergy

Nothing to eat/drink for 4 hours prior to the test.(sip of water with medications is OK)

No caffeine for 24 hours prior to the test. This includes coffee, decaf coffee, tea, decaf tea, cola, orange soda, mountain dew chocolate (of any type), Excedrin. We advise water, fruit juices and dairy drinks only. Please let our office know if you are on certain medications such as theophylline (Uniphyl) or Persantine, Aggrenox, or Trental. These will interfere with your test results.

PLEASE TAKE ALL OF YOUR USUAL MEDICATIONS THE DAY OF THE TEST EXCEPT: Diabetic meds that may cause low blood sugar such as: Glipizide, Glucotrol, Fast acting insulin, Glimipiride, Prandin. If you are using the treadmill you may be asked to hold beta blockers: Toprol, metoprolol, atenolol, check with the office.
